Many years ago, when the only way I could access English music as a teen was through YouTube, I remember watching an old black-and-white advertisement featuring Beyoncé in a sparkling diamond-like dress, singing "Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend." That’s when I first discovered Armani’s fragrance, Diamonds.
At the time, I was captivated by the name and was curious to know what the fragrance smelled like.
It was by chance that I ended up owning it. I had asked my dad to pick something from the duty-free store during one of his trips, and he brought me Diamonds. The moment I tried it, I fell in love.
Today, Diamonds remains a fragrance I associate with everything I want to wear during the spring and summer. Even after all these years, I still enjoy it as much as the first time. Despite being out for over fifteen years, it seems like this fragrance doesn’t get talked about as much anymore. That’s why I wanted to bring it into the spotlight this week.
Which best describes your experience with Armani’s Diamonds fragrance?
I have it!
I had it!!
I want it!!!
Emporio Armani - Diamonds perfume retails for ₹5,900 per 100ml in India. The 100ml bottle is sleek, shaped like a diamond, and shines beautifully in the right light. It has an attached nozzle with no separate cap, making it easy to use.
Created by Thierry Wasser of Firmenich, the fragrance is classified as a gourmand-floral. The top notes are litchi and raspberry, the middle notes include freesia and lily of the valley, and the base notes are vetiver, cedarwood, patchouli, and vanilla. Emporio Armani describes the scent as using rose "in a very gourmand way, like a flower that can be eaten." The perfume is available in 30ml, 50ml, and 100ml bottles.
What I love about Diamonds is that it’s fruity and sweet but still complex enough to suit any age. I’ve worn it from my teenage years well into adulthood, and it continues to be one of my favourites.
The scent lasts about three hours on my skin, which is average for most fragrances I wear. While it doesn’t last the entire day, it gives me a great start in the morning, and its lightweight feel never overwhelms me.
If you’re looking for a timeless fragrance from the 2000s, Diamonds is a great option. It brings back fond memories and continues to be the perfect scent for making new ones—especially in the spring and summer.
